A Sunny Weekend in P Town

We had couples dinner Friday night, LOVE couples dinner. Everyone puts the babies to sleep (thank goodness the Colton house is big enough to house 4 babies) and we eat, drink and play games. I think the game was a lost effort this month because of March maddness...we just didn't sense the enthusiasm. So I took my camera to get a few pictures this time because I realized we have been doing couples dinners for over 2 years and never taken a picture. So here's the gang!

Matt is on spring break this week, so last weekend he had very little school work to do. We woke up on Saturday and the forecast was for blue skies and uper 60's. Wahoo! So we packed up and headed down to the waterfront for a walk and ended up at the Saturday market. What a perfect day. Brooklyn is not a stroller kid, she much prefers the view from above (baby snob :) so poor Matt's back was about to break by the time we got back to the car. Here are a few pictures from the walk. Then B went to Mimi and Papas for the night. It was a great weekend!

Faces

Oh the many faces of Brooklyn Michelle. She is in one word a "character". Never a dull day around the feenstra house, often never a saine one either. She is such a hoot. Today she decided to strip down to her diaper and when that became cumbersome she ran around the house for a solid hour naked. I turned around at one point to figure out why she keept saying "boot, boot, boot" to find her wandering about buck naked with one boot on.

Switching gears now, you know that feeling, where nothing in the world is wrong, but things just don't seem to feel quite right? I am definitely in a bit of a funk right now. I have acknowledged that it is OKAY to feel this way, life is not designed to be all sunshine and sangria, but it's still bothersome. I know a lot of it is that we have seen the light at the end of some very long, very dark tunnels in our time married, but you almost get addicted to the turmoil; correction, you stop depending on yourself and start calling on the Lord during those trials...and when everything is "normal" you miss that hunger. Look at that, I just traced my own issue down to the root in a blog post. Just having a ho-hum week I guess.

Matt is 6 weeks away from being done with school and he is gone from 6am-10:30pm Mon & Tues nights and when he is home on the weekends he is pretty much holed up in the office. I miss him terribly! But hallelujah to being 6 weeks from done! We are dropping B off with my parents for a long weekend in May and heading to Hood River for 3 nights. We are staying at this adorable little cottage with a patio overlooking a garden and a kitchen so we can cook some gourmet meals, 2 blocks from down town. Matt will golf while I get a massage, a long hike (crossing fingers for great weather), yummy food and SLEEP!! I am so excited for that alone time to reconnect as a couple I can hardly stand it. Just think what kind of mood I would be in without that on the books ;)

A friend sent me this quote the other day and I am now copying it because I love it (thanks erin):

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are...let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in my pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want more, more than all the world, your return." Mary Jean Iron

Words to live by!

New to this, but here we go

So, after watching so many friends start blogs and being a loyal follower of many, I have decided to jump on the blogging bandwagon. I love reading about my friends (and even people I don't know in real life) lives. It's a great escape from my own life...on "those" days.

To document for myself and for those of you who will be coming along here is the status on the Feenstra's. Matt is working at Kaiser and enjoying it thoroughly. I am at home almost full time with Brooklyn and even though there are plenty of days I take it for granted, I love every moment with her, even the challenging ones. I love snuggling with cheerios and milk in my bed when she first wakes up, putting her down for her nap, play dates at the park, even going to Costco can be an adventure. The best part of our day is unanimous, anxiously waiting for daddy to walk through the door!

B is now almost 19 months old. I really can't believe how fast it has gone by. I see a newborn now and coo over how precious they are because I can hardly remember what it felt like when we first brought her home. Alas, she is quite the toddler these days. She RUNS, does not walk anywhere. Sufficed to say we have a lot of "bonks" in our house. She doesn't seem to mind too much, she stands up and does the "shake it off dance". She can repeat almost any word and is stringing several two word phrases together. The latest is "mommy's _____" she will look at me and say with such enthusiasm and declarations "mommy's hair!" like she just noticed I have hair. It never ceases to make me laugh.

So that's us as of today. More to come, so stay tuned.
